TOGETHER WE ENABLE NATURE CONSERVATION STUDY IN AFRICA

Nature conservation under external control?
In light of global ecological crises, effective nature conservation in Africa is essential. However, external control and the exclusion of local communities from the natural spaces they have successfully preserved for millennia cannot be the solution. Maintaining Africa's fascinating biodiversity requires competent decision-makers from local communities. But insufficient funding often prevents the necessary training.
We'll change that.
THE IMBALITATION
Management by outsiders
Leadership positions in nature conservation and research are dominated by people from wealthy families or Western countries.
Inaccessible education
Tuition fees are unaffordable for most families, and funding opportunities are difficult to access or virtually non-existent in many countries.
Dead end jobs
Due to a lack of educational qualifications, residents of local communities usually work in positions with little say in decision-making.
Our task
We want to contribute to dismantling persistent colonial structures in nature conservation from within.
We support local conservationists on their path to university graduation by assisting with scholarship searches, applications, and awarding our own scholarships.
For greater equality of opportunity in access to education and for locally staffed management and leadership positions in nature conservation.
